Foreword:
IIT Patna is one of the eight new IIT’s established by Government of India in 2008. Indian Institute of Technology Patna is situated in the historic city of Patna (Bihar) which was the Mecca of learning and arts in ancient India. It is the birth land of two great religions-- Buddhism and Jainism. The first university of the whole world, Nalanda, is also located in the heart of Bihar state.
Location:
The temporary campus of IIT Patna is located in the urban section of Patna district. IIT Patna falls in the most posh colony of Patna city, surrounded by residences of the elite class of Patna. The permanent campus of IIT Patna is developing in Bihita which lies in perimeter of 25 km of Patna city.
Campus and Infrastructure:
Every facility related to academics is at its best at IIT Patna. All the classrooms, library, laboratories and all academic complexes are fully air conditioned. There are three boys hostels and one girl’s hostel, a new hostel is coming up soon. Hostels are moderately furnished and are shared by two or three depending on size of rooms. The internet facilities here are 24 hours and 7 days and are up to mark. Library is well-equipped with textbooks, reference, scientific journals and facilitated with computers.

Faculty:
All the professors are Ph.D from some of the reputed institutes of India and abroad. All the professors are young with age and heart. They are experienced as well but lesser than their counterparts in other older IITs.
Crowd:
The boy/girls ratio here is approximately 7/1. People from all over India come to this college. You find a diverse crowd in terms of mother tongues. One can enjoy every aspect of an ideal hostel life at IIT Patna. There has been no scope or cases of ragging.
Rankings:
IIT P, as adorably referred, ranks first among all the new IITs. You need to get really good rank in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to get into this institute; one must be under 4000 rank in general category.
Placements and Internships:
The year 2012 is the first year for placements of pioneer batch of IIT Patna. The trend is very satisfying and glorious.
Festivals and Activities:
There is an annul techno-cultural festival, Anwesha. Nebula, the annual fresher party, is a tradition at IIT Patna. We celebrate reverberance party every year during the series of vacations around Diwali and Durga Puja. Presently, there are no individual hostel events as such.
Canteen/Mess:
Mess food is like mess food but let me assure you it’s quite better than other institutions. There are many good restaurants in Patna and one can easily savour his taste buds.

The diversity in masses, excellent academic backgrounds, personality development and sports facilities are something one would look for at IIT Patna. If you have qualified JEE but aren't amongst the top hundreds, and want to be in the best IIT amongst all the news, then this is for you all.
